Second Life Careers started under the umbrella of Personal Business Advisors ® (PBA), who recognized (in 2001) the significant backlog of  immeasurable qualified and talented individuals sitting on the sidelines - unable to find employment due to company reorganizations, downsizing and outsourcing. Historically, at the beginning of this millennium we noticed a major shift: the major impact of globalization, and outsourcing, which caused the export of millions of jobs from the US market. After the last recession in 2008, the situation became dire and the cycle was clear – executives need a backup plan. From that point on, the goal became to help disenfranchised executives create success for themselves as individuals ~ despite times of economic hardship and personal challenges. 

Fast forward to November 2019, when the founder and CEO of PBA, Uwe Brettmann, tragically died in a motorcycle accident and his wife decided to dissolve the company at the close of 2019. With the desire to continue Uwe’s legacy and approval from his wife, the team at SLC got started on a plan to jumpstart the business. In February 2020 we launched the website and had more than 20 clients signed to our portfolio.

The Second Life Careers executive team consists of accountable, down-to-earth and proven industry veterans; ranging from globally successful business developers, to executive recruiters and myriad senior executives across multiple disciplines, industries and levels of the corporate ladder.
